8 November 2006 - November 9, 2006
"Four hundred years and not hear," we would say today.
Many in fact they made this year Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn (born in Leiden in 1606) and the fame of his genius continues unabated, even birthday celebrations for this multiply through exhibitions and publications worldwide.
Rembrandt produced about 370 etchings, most of which engraved directly on the copper plate without the aid of a preliminary design.
The exhibition of modern and ancient engravings that Valeria Bella Gallery exhibits from 8 November to 9 December with a rich catalog, features six etchings of the Dutch master, all of great rarity (if you know a few specimens in the world) and high-quality as difficult today to see.
They are:
the village with his hands behind his back
The beggar with his hat high
The great Jewish bride
Landscape with Obelisk
St. Jerome in His Study
Studies heads
Still in the field of rarity between the gallery has many interesting prints, two chisels of '400, a St. Agnes van Meckenem by Israel, The Death of the Virgin of Martin Schongauer, and a engraving of the '500, Rhino Enea Vico , curious and also very rare print of "the first specimen of this species to be seen in Europe since Roman times."
For modern well represented, "side" with Italian Boccioni, Campigli, Fattori, Marini, and Morandi, and the north of the Alps and more with Heckel, Kollwitz, Müller, Munch and Nolde.
and it shows how sad: (
Until next time ... ;)
